slow weekends in suffolk have a particular quality to them, unhurried in a way that's hard to manufacture, and halesworth road out toward reydon is exactly the kind of place where that feeling holds. old hall farm sits just outside southwold proper, which means you're already a little removed from the seafront crowds before you've even ordered. the regulars here are consistent and loyal, not the kind of crowd that turns up once for novelty, and that says something about what the cafe gets right over time. it's the sort of stop that works whether you've come off the coastal path or you're settling in for the morning with nowhere particular to be. end up here on a grey suffolk tuesday and there's a good chance you won't leave until the light changes.
