our place coffeehouse does independent coffee without apology. granville street gets a lot of foot traffic, and spots along it can feel transactional, but this one pulls people back, repeatedly, in the way that only consistent quality manages to do. you don't have to take anyone's word for it: the regulars here are loyal in a way that takes years to build, not months. there's no performance of being a great café, just the daily work of being one. halifax has a real specialty coffee scene now, and our place sits comfortably within its better half. if you're downtown and want something done properly, 1873 granville is a reasonable place to end up on a weekday morning.
