still on the north shore, and already you're thinking about where to get a decent cup before the causeway. pj's coffee on gause boulevard has that kind of pull, the sort of place slidell regulars seem to factor into their actual routines rather than treat as a backup option. it's independently run, which in a stretch of louisiana that runs heavy on chain drive-throughs, means something in practice: the menu reflects actual choices, not a corporate formula shipped in from somewhere else. the coffee is taken seriously here. not as a performance, just as the point. if you're coming in from the east side of town, gause boulevard puts it right on your path, and the morning window, before the commute traffic thickens, is probably the move.
