power plant coffee takes its filter work seriously. that alone is worth the trip out to fujitocho, a quiet part of kurashiki that doesn't pull many visitors on its own. you're not going to stumble across this place by accident, sitting at amaki as it does, a little removed from the bikan historical quarter that pulls most of the tourist foot traffic. the high standing this shop holds locally isn't surprising once you understand what kurashiki's specialty coffee drinkers actually expect: consistency, intentionality, no shortcuts. independent cafes in okayama prefecture have raised the bar considerably over the past decade, and power plant sits comfortably near the top of that conversation. come for the filter coffee on a weekday morning, when the pace is slower and the cup gets the attention it deserves.
