a slow morning in ubud has a particular pull to it, the kind where the plan was one hour and it somehow becomes three. jl. sugriwa is a quieter stretch than the main tourist drag, and pumpkin & beetroot cafe sits on that street in a way that makes it easy to stay longer than you intended. the local reputation here is solid, built over time rather than announced. you're not fighting for a table in a place trying to capture every passing backpacker. the specialty coffee focus means the cup in front of you is taken seriously, not treated as an afterthought to a smoothie bowl. order something in the morning before ubud fully wakes up, and that particular window on jl. sugriwa no.60 is hard to beat.
