the cortado is probably your safest first move here. this is a jaeger-lecoultre retail space that also happens to serve specialty coffee, which sounds like a gimmick until you're actually standing on madison avenue at 72nd street, one of the more seriously moneyed stretches of the upper east side, and you realize the coffee operation is being taken just as seriously as the watches behind the glass. that combination could easily feel performative, but the standing here suggests it doesn't. you get a tight, well-pulled shot in a quiet room that most of the neighborhood walks past without stopping. their loss, honestly. if you're in the area mid-morning, before the lunch crowds push up madison, that's the window.
