helsinki takes its coffee seriously. the city has a long-standing filter coffee tradition, but over the last decade a genuine specialty scene has grown up around it, one that rewards the kind of person who pays attention. rose cafe sits on vihdintie, out in the pitäjänmäki district, which is not the obvious place you'd expect to find a spot with this much goodwill behind it, and yet here it is. regulars keep coming back, and that kind of loyalty in a city with plenty of options means something. if you're heading out that way, the case for stopping in is strong. vihdintie 3-5 is worth building your route around, even on a weekday morning when the city is still waking up.
