sahara patisserie does the thing most cafes only pretend to do: it takes both the coffee and the pastry side seriously, without letting either one coast on the other's reputation. st benedicts street is already one of norwich's more interesting stretches, independent-minded and unhurried, and sahara fits that register without making a performance of it. the regulars here are loyal in the way people only get when a place consistently meets them where they are, not occasionally, not on a good day. if you're coming from the city centre, the walk down takes about five minutes and earns itself. the crowd on a weekend morning tends to fill the place quickly, so arriving early with no particular deadline is the right move.
