still looking for somewhere worth returning to on yates street, and saint cecilia keeps coming up. the café sits at 535 yates, which puts you in the middle of downtown victoria's denser commercial stretch, close enough to the inner harbour that the foot traffic is real but not overwhelming. what makes it stick locally isn't volume or visibility, it's the kind of quiet consistency that people in this city talk about when they're being honest about where they actually go. you don't end up well regarded around here by accident, not when the specialty scene has gotten as serious as it has. worth going back for on a weekday morning when yates is still unhurried and the coffee has somewhere to land.
