Salon de thé Rosage

Japan, 〒250-0522 Kanagawa, Ashigarashimo District, Hakone, Motohakone, 80 山のホテル別館
verified

tea gets top billing here, and if you're visiting motohakone, that's where you should start. salon de thé rosage sits within the grounds of yama no hotel in ashigarashimo district, which means the setting does a lot of the contextual work before you've even ordered. hakone draws visitors for the lake, the mountains, the ryokan culture, and a place like this fits that slower register well. the tea selection is the point, not a concession to people who won't drink coffee. that said, the café side holds its own among locals who know the area. you don't come here in a rush. come in the afternoon, when the light off ashi-ko has shifted and you have nowhere specific to be, and order the tea.
