coventry's specialty coffee scene is quieter than birmingham's, but that's not a knock on it. places worth finding tend to be exactly that, worth finding. sj's cafe sits out on rowley's green lane in longford, on hales industrial estate, which is not the kind of address that shows up in weekend supplement roundups. and yet the regulars keep coming back, consistently, with the kind of loyalty you only build by getting the basics consistently right. if you're making the trip out to cv6, you're probably already in the know, or you're about to be. the coffee is the point here, not the postcode. go for a flat white on a weekday morning when the estate is quiet and the place has room to breathe.
