good coffee in pinheiros doesn't have to announce itself. sofá café sits on rua henrique monteiro, a quieter stretch that doesn't get the foot traffic of faria lima a few blocks over, which is partly the point. the neighborhood has been pulling in independent spots for years now, and this one has held its ground, which in são paulo's cafe scene is not nothing. if you're moving through the west side of the city and need somewhere that's worth sitting in rather than just passing through, this is a reasonable bet. the locals seem to agree. finish the afternoon here with whatever they're pouring as a filter, on rua henrique monteiro 214.
