the victorian tea room side of this spot isn't just window dressing, so if you lean toward tea, start there before defaulting to espresso. that said, the caffe half of soiree earns its own attention, and if you're on 12th avenue north with an hour to spare, that's reason enough to stop. fargo doesn't have a long list of places that take both tea and specialty coffee seriously in the same room, which makes 1414 n 12th a bit of an outlier. regulars clearly feel the same way, and their loyalty is consistent enough to say something without spelling it out. you could do a lot worse than finishing your visit with a properly pulled afternoon coffee, slow, no rush.
