denpasar's specialty coffee scene has grown quietly but seriously over the past decade, moving well past the tourist-facing smoothie bars and into something with more intention behind it. stadium cafe, sitting on jl. kartika plaza in kuta, is part of that shift. the kuta strip gets a bad rap for good reason, but you'll find that not everything along it defaults to the lowest common denominator. stadium cafe has built a local following that isn't casual or accidental, the kind of regulars-first reputation that takes consistent work to hold onto in a neighborhood that turns over fast. if you're spending time near badung, the afternoon light and a straight espresso here is a better use of an hour than most of what the strip is selling.
