sitting on the beach at watergate bay is either the best or worst place to run a specialty coffee shop, depending on how seriously you take the coffee. the beach hut takes it seriously. cornwall's atlantic coast doesn't exactly encourage slow, careful extraction, but that's the point, the contrast between where you are and what's in your cup is the whole thing. you're not stopping here because there's nothing else around. you're stopping because it's good enough to stop for. watergate bay is a working beach, not a postcard, and the coffee fits that. locally well regarded, which in cornwall means regulars who know the difference and keep coming back. worth the detour for a flat white before the tide turns.
