the cortado is a good place to start here. small, balanced, no room for anything to hide, which tends to be exactly what separates a shop that takes its coffee seriously from one that doesn't. the common cup sits on morse avenue in rogers park, a neighborhood that's always had its own pace, a little removed from the more polished stretches of the north side, and the shop fits that energy without trying to perform it. you don't need to be a coffee obsessive to appreciate what's happening, but if you are one, you'll find enough to hold your attention. locally, the reputation has built steadily and quietly, the way things tend to when the product is consistent. when you're back on morse and the afternoon is getting away from you, the cortado again.
