somewhere between barnstaple's busier streets and the quieter end of the estuary, mill hill doesn't see a lot of foot traffic from people just passing through. you'd have to mean it to end up at the fox. that's not a flaw, it's just how it works out here in fremington, where the regulars aren't regulars by accident but because the coffee is good enough to plan around. independent shops that hold this kind of standing in a small community tend to do so because the basics are done honestly and consistently, not because the fit-out is photogenic. whatever you're ordering, the afternoon light on mill hill is a decent enough reason to linger over it.
