flat whites get a lot of credit at places like this, and for good reason. the glasshouse cafe sits in warrior square, which puts you right between the seafront and the quieter residential streets that slope back from it, a genuinely useful spot if you've been walking the esplanade and need somewhere that takes coffee seriously. southend doesn't lack for cafes, but a place that's built a real local following on a kiosk footprint is doing something right. you don't need a huge room to pull good espresso. the standing here is solid and consistent, which in a seaside town where footfall swings hard between seasons, takes some doing. worth timing a visit for a mid-morning weekday when the square breathes a little, and ordering whatever's on filter.
