not every good coffee spot announces itself loudly. the phoenix café bar sits inside universal hall at the park in findhorn, which already puts it somewhere a little different from your average high street stop. findhorn itself carries a particular quietness, and the café seems to suit that without making a thing of it. if you're coming from forres or elgin, it's worth the extra few miles along the iv36 stretch. locally, people seem to have made up their minds about this place over time, and that kind of reputation tends to hold for a reason. go for whatever's on filter in the afternoon, when the hall is likely to be at its most unhurried.
