a slow saturday with nowhere to be is when reckford farm starts to make sense. it's not a quick-stop kind of place. tosier sits out on the saxmundham road in middleton, the kind of suffolk countryside location that asks something of you before you arrive, and then rewards you for making the effort. the chocolate side of the operation is the obvious draw, but the café holds its own, and regulars here are the loyal kind, which says plenty about consistency. you're not getting a factory tour experience dressed up as hospitality. the farm shop and tasting rooms mean there's always something else to linger over between visits to the counter. come on a weekend morning, stay longer than you planned, and leave with something wrapped in brown paper.
