volta covers a lot of ground, and it does all of it well. coffee, tea, chocolate, each treated as a real category rather than an afterthought tacked onto a menu. that kind of range can go badly wrong, but on sw 2nd street in downtown gainesville it holds together. you get the sense that the people behind this place made deliberate choices about what to stock and why, not just what would photograph well or sell fast. gainesville has a strong local food culture, and volta fits into it without leaning on that fact too hard. if you're spending a morning in that part of downtown, the chocolate drinks are worth your attention specifically, not as a novelty, but as a reason to come back.
