chad wang knows how to make coffee land properly. vwi sits just off zhongxiao east road section 3 in da'an district, which puts it in one of taipei's more walkable, coffee-saturated corridors, and yet the shop holds its own. that's not easy when the neighborhood already has options. what keeps people coming back, at least based on how it's talked about locally, is consistency and a certain lack of performance around it. you don't get the sense anything is being done for show. the focus is narrow and the execution is tight. if you're moving through da'an and want something that doesn't ask anything of you, this is a reliable stop. end the afternoon here with a long black.
