edmonds has a particular relationship with mornings. the town sits right at the ferry terminal on puget sound, which means the foot traffic on main street has a purpose to it, people catching the kingston crossing, others just starting their day slow. waterfront coffee company at 101 main st sits in the middle of all of that movement without trying to compete with it. what you get here is a place that its regulars return to with real consistency, not out of habit exactly, but because the coffee holds up. independent shops in small washington towns can go either way, but this one has built something that sticks. if you're coming off the ferry or heading toward it, a straight espresso here is a decent reason to pause on main street before the water takes you anywhere.
