turkish coffee is the reason to come here first, before you even think about anything else on the menu. it's an older preparation than most of what gets celebrated in specialty coffee right now, and zaza does it with enough seriousness that it doesn't feel like a novelty item sitting awkwardly beside the espresso drinks. the shop has recently moved to 1519 commercial ave, inside the market at anacortes, which puts it in good company along one of the more walkable stretches in town. regulars clearly feel the transition worked. you get the sense this is a place people return to with intention, not just convenience. if you're deciding when to go, the middle of the morning on commercial ave, turkish coffee in hand, is a reasonable answer.
