besca besca bsc-2
the BSC-2 works in the 0.5kg to 2kg range with the same control setup as the BSC-1: manual flame and airflow adjustment with USB profile logging. this size makes more sense for small cafe roasters doing 10-20kg per week, where you can knock out a few 1.5-2kg batches in a morning. the 28kW burner and premix system give you responsive heat control, and users mention the thick front panel construction holds temperature well between batches. you're looking at maybe 8-10kg per hour if you're running efficiently. the 0.5kg minimum is more practical than the BSC-1 for actual cupping samples. trade-offs are still manual operation (you're at the machine for every adjustment) and no clear upgrade path within the Besca lineup. if you outgrow 2kg batches, you're probably jumping to the BSC-6 or looking at other manufacturers. works for roasters who know they'll stay small or who want sample roasting with occasional small production runs.
