you're on pacific street in santa fe springs, which isn't the part of los angeles that gets written about much. industrial stretches, working warehouses, the kind of zip code people pass through rather than stop in. and then there's apffels. an independent roaster operating out of 12115 pacific, doing the thing that actually matters in specialty coffee: sourcing carefully and roasting with intention, not volume. if you're driving out here specifically for coffee, you already know what you want. the reviews back that up consistently, and the standing apffels has built in the la specialty scene didn't come from convenience. worth the detour on a weekday morning, before the 91 turns into a parking lot.
