good coffee in colaba is easier to find than you'd think, and araku sits on mandlik road close enough to apollo bunder that you get that particular mumbai saltiness in the air when you step outside. the roastery has built a reputation here without needing to shout about it, which in a city this loud means something. araku sources from india's araku valley in andhra pradesh, one of the country's most serious coffee-growing regions, so there's a coherent logic to what's in your cup rather than a grab-bag of rotating origins. it's well regarded locally, and that standing holds up across a pretty discerning crowd. if you're in the neighborhood, the filter coffee is the obvious place to start.
