you're on piazza del duomo, which means you're standing in the most tourist-saturated square in milan, probably bumping elbows with half of europe. that's exactly why finding a locally regarded independent roaster here matters. most places around the duomo are running on location alone, but bialetti has built a reputation with actual milanese drinkers, which is a harder crowd to please. you don't wander into a spot like this expecting much from the address, and then you recalibrate. the piazza operates at a relentless pace, and a coffee stop that locals return to, in the middle of all that, says something about consistency. go in the morning, before the square fills completely, and order an espresso at the counter.
