bucer's does the hybrid well. coffee house and pub under one roof sounds like a compromise, but on south main street in moscow, idaho, it functions as something more settled than that. the regulars who keep coming back aren't doing so out of habit alone. you get a place that takes both sides of its identity seriously, which means the coffee isn't an afterthought to the beer list, and the bar isn't just decorative. moscow's a university town with enough daily foot traffic to expose a weak menu fast, and bucer's has outlasted that test. if you're there in the morning, the coffee carries the room. if you're there later, something else does. either way, south main street is a better block for having it.
