a roastery on e washington st isn't where you'd expect to linger, but that's kind of the point. phoenix's industrial east side doesn't dress things up, and espressions doesn't either. the operation at suite 103 is roaster-first, which means the coffee you're drinking was probably roasted close enough to now that it still tastes like itself. that matters more than most people realize. freshness at the source changes what ends up in your cup in ways that no amount of good technique can compensate for after the fact. if you're the kind of person who wants to understand where the coffee came from before it got to you, this is a reasonable place to start that conversation. come before the afternoon heat sets in, and order whatever's just off the roaster.
