williams sits at 6,700 feet, which means the cold comes early and stays late, and a place that roasts its own beans on 7th street starts making a lot of sense before you've even walked in. grand canyon distillery spirits & coffee house does something genuinely unusual for a town this size: it handles both the distilling and the roasting side by side, which means what you're drinking has actually been thought about rather than just ordered from a distributor. you won't find that combination everywhere. the specialty coffee side holds up on its own merits, with a standing that puts it well above the average stop-and-go. williams is a route 66 town, and most people blow through without pausing, but 301 n 7th is worth the detour if you've got a morning to spend somewhere that isn't the interstate.
