vanta is a washed blend from homeground coffee roasters, drawing on beans from colombia and brazil. the washed process strips away the fruit skin before drying, which tends to produce a cleaner cup with brighter acidity. here that shows up as red apple and stone fruit, sitting alongside milk chocolate and dark chocolate in the finish. the result is a coffee that balances fruit-forward brightness with a grounded cocoa weight. pick up whole beans in-store and grind fresh. it suits filter methods that let the cleaner, more delicate characteristics come through, though it should hold up well as an espresso too.
