you can smell the wet-hulled sumatran mandheling before you even step inside kopi nako bali. the earthy, almost mushroom-like intensity hits different when it's roasted this close to the source. they're pulling beans from gayo highlands and central java too, but that mandheling stops conversations mid-sentence. the cup tastes like dark chocolate mixed with wet soil after rain. not pretty on paper, absolutely stunning in your mouth.
