local hero coffee works roasts its own. that's the thing to understand before you arrive at main road, huapai, because it changes what you're drinking. most cafes source from someone else and hope for the best. this place sits closer to the source of its own product, which gives the whole operation a different kind of accountability. the regulars here are genuinely devoted, not in a polite way, but in the way people get when a place has actually worked out what it's doing. huapai isn't a suburb you pass through by accident, so if you've made the drive out to 0810, the expectation is usually high. the morning cup is a decent reason to make it.
