slow saturdays have a way of finding the right place for themselves, and cypress avenue in glassell park is one of those spots where los angeles slows down just enough to be livable. loquat coffee sits at 1201 cypress ave in a pocket of the city that doesn't feel like it's performing anything. regulars here are loyal in the way that people are loyal when a place consistently gets the thing right, not just occasionally. you don't need a destination coffee pilgrimage to justify the visit, just a morning with a little room in it. the cortado is a good reason to show up before noon.
