new york city has more coffee shops per square mile than almost anywhere on earth, which means the ones that actually build a loyal following have had to earn it the hard way. nicoletti coffee roasters, on 13th avenue in brooklyn's borough park neighborhood, is one of those places. the avenue itself is a dense, working stretch of brooklyn, not a destination block for tourists, so the people who come here are mostly people who know. regulars don't tend to be loyal to a roaster without a reason, and this one has held its standing long enough that the reputation isn't fragile. if you're in the area on a weekday morning, the espresso is a good reason to stop before you get back on the subway.
