cusco has a coffee culture that surprises people. peru is one of south america's most significant coffee-producing countries, and yet the city itself took a while to develop a specialty scene that matched the quality coming out of the highlands. that's changed. on choqechaka 152, onírica operates as both roastery and brew bar, which means the coffee you're drinking has been roasted in-house rather than sourced from a distant supplier. that proximity matters. the place carries very strong word of mouth among people who know cusco well, not the tourist-circuit kind of recommendation but the kind that comes from locals who've settled into a routine here. if you're in the san blas area, choqechaka is a short walk, and the afternoon light on that street makes it a reasonable excuse to stop.
