rand coffee roastery does one thing that most cafes skip entirely: it roasts its own beans. that distinction matters more than it sounds. when you're buying coffee from a place that roasts on site, there's a shorter, cleaner line between the green bean and your cup, and roundhay's street lane is a reasonable place to follow that line to its end. LS8 isn't a neighbourhood that needs a destination bolted onto it, which probably suits rand fine. locally, the reputation holds up without much explanation attached to it. if you're in leeds and you actually care about where the coffee came from before it reached the grinder, 90 street lane is worth the trip, ideally before noon.
