a roaster that actually does both sides of the operation, sourcing and serving, on the same hubbard street block in islington. that's not as common as you'd think. most places pick a lane. red parrot runs the whole thing, which means when you order an espresso at the bar, there's no middleman between the green bean decision and what ends up in your cup. islington isn't a suburb that gets a lot of coffee column inches, which might be exactly why the locals here are protective of what they've got. the neighborhood has that quality, unpretentious, a little industrial at the edges, not performing for anyone. worth building your morning around a stop on hubbard st before the day gets away from you.
