spce coffee roasts with intention, and you feel that before you even decide what to order. the east mcdownell corridor isn't the most polished stretch of phoenix, but that's partly why it works, a roaster with actual skin in the neighborhood rather than one that parachuted into a shinier zip code. phoenix gets brutal heat for most of the year, and the specialty scene here has had to earn its audience the slow way, cup by cup, block by block. spce has done that. locally regarded for good reason, it sits in a part of the city that rewards the curious. if you're anywhere near the 85006, a cold brew on e mcdowell on a wednesday morning is a solid place to start.
