a slow saturday morning on e. calder way calls for exactly this kind of stop. w. c. clarke's coffee roasters at 234 e. calder way has built a genuinely loyal following in state college, the kind that comes back not out of habit but out of preference. they roast in-house, which means what ends up in your cup has had fewer hands and fewer miles between origin and extraction than most places around here can claim. the regulars are consistent and vocal about it, which counts for something in a college town where opinions travel fast. if you're settling in for a few hours with a laptop, this is a reasonable place to do that. so is a quick stop before the rest of your day gets away from you. either way, the cortado is a good place to start.
