st albans has a decent coffee scene for a city its size, scattered across the old town and along the streets that run between the roman ruins and the cathedral. streetcafe, sitting on catherine street, is where a lot of locals have quietly settled their loyalties. the regulars here aren't casual about it, either. people come back because the place has earned a kind of trust that takes time to build, not something you stumble into by accident. if you're in the area on a weekday morning, catherine street is worth the detour. the flat white tends to be the order that keeps people coming back, but that's true of any place that takes its coffee seriously, and at streetcafe it holds up.
