roest roest l100
the L100 is Roest's lab-grade sample roaster, built for environments where you need every data point recorded and repeatable profiles across dozens of samples. five temperature sensors (bean, inlet, exhaust, drum, environmental) plus first crack detection and two open slots for custom probes give you more tracking than most sample roasters on the market. batch range is 100 to 300 grams, and the back-to-back workflow lets you run continuous sessions without cooldown wait times. the black heat-resistant casing is heavier and less consumer-friendly than the wooden S100, but that's the point. this is for importers, qa labs, and roasteries that need to justify green buying decisions with data, not just cupping notes. the trade-off is price and complexity: you're paying for sensors and software you may not use if you're just profiling for production translation.
what it does well
- five temperature sensors plus two open slots for custom probes
- first crack detection via sound saves manual monitoring
- back-to-back roasting without waiting for cooldown
- web dashboard logs all data to the cloud automatically
where it stops short
- premium pricing limits it to labs and high-volume sample programs
- fluid bed heat may not translate directly to drum production profiles
- heavier black casing less portable than wooden s100 models
