Single-Estate Farm

Finca Sophia

unclaimed

Panama

Coffee farm located in Nueva Suiza, Panama at 1800-2100 meters.

about Finca Sophia

finca sophia is a high-altitude coffee farm in nueva suiza, panama, co-owned by equator coffees co-founders helen russell and brooke McDonnell, along with co-owner willem boot. established in 2008, the farm sits between 1,800 and 2,100 meters above sea level, placing it among the highest farms in central america. from the outset, finca sophia planted exclusively with the gesha variety, pairing the cultivar with extreme elevation to produce slow-maturing, intensely developed fruit. the farm operates as an experimental production site, with farm manager kelley hartmann and his team actively working to address challenges including low soil temperatures and limited sun exposure. finca sophia produces microlots in both washed and natural process. the farm has placed competitively at best of panama, finishing 2nd in the geisha washed category and 5th in the geisha natural category in 2024. green coffee from finca sophia is channeled through equator coffees and affiliated trade relationships. buyers interested in green access should contact equator coffees or finca sophia directly, as minimum volumes and availability are lot-specific and subject to harvest yield.
