holualoa grows kona coffee on the slopes above the ocean, and buddha's cup is rooted in that same geography. not borrowing from it, not gesturing toward it. bishop road puts you well above the coast, in a part of hawaii that most visitors skip entirely, and that's exactly where a roaster like this belongs. the regulars who keep coming back aren't doing it out of habit, they're doing it because the sourcing and roasting here are taken seriously in a way that shows up in the cup. you don't need to already know kona to appreciate what's happening on bishop road. a single-origin pour-over from the volcanic belt just west of the saddle road is a good place to start.
