your cup at archetype tells you something about restraint. this omaha roaster doesn't chase trends, it chases terroir, and their work with hawaiian estate coffee from the kona belt is the clearest proof of that. kona is famously misrepresented, watered down, blended into oblivion, but archetype treats it with the kind of attention it actually deserves. bright, clean, with that distinctive silky weight on the back of the tongue. the midwest doesn't usually get credit for this kind of sourcing rigor. it should.
