you can taste the volcanic soil in every cup at rising kona coffee farm tours. these guys work exclusively with beans from the kona belt, where the morning mist rolls up from the pacific and kisses coffee plants growing on hualalai's slopes. the roasting happens right in holualoa, and you'll smell those beans crackling before you see the facility. their hawaiian estate coffee carries notes of macadamia and brown sugar that only come from this elevation, this rainfall, this particular patch of the big island.
