you won't find better wet-hulled sumatra in medan than what kopi gunung pulls from the mountains. their mandheling beans carry that signature earthy funk, not dirty, just honest soil and rain-soaked processing patios. the gayo they source hits different too, all spice and tobacco leaf when you crack open a fresh bag. these aren't the polite, washed coffees that play nice. they're bold, sometimes aggressive, exactly what indonesian coffee should be.
