san sebastián de los reyes sits close enough to madrid to feel connected, but it runs at its own pace, and the coffee culture here reflects that. cafés duque, on avenida de baunatal, is where a lot of that quieter seriousness lands. this is a roaster, not a café doing roasting on the side, which means what ends up in your cup starts with decisions made much earlier in the process. the regulars who've found their way here tend to stay found. if you're coming from central madrid, the trip north is worth it, and avenida de baunatal 21 is a more satisfying destination than most places you'd travel further to reach.
