you're on lower clapton road, which isn't the part of hackney that gets written up in travel supplements, and that's probably fine by everyone involved. the right roast sits in a stretch of east london that's still figuring itself out, and there's something honest about a specialty roaster planting itself here rather than in shoreditch where the foot traffic does half the work for you. they roast their own beans, which means what ends up in your cup started as a decision made on this premises, not a bag ordered from a wholesaler. the standing among reviewers is genuinely strong, consistently so. if you're in clapton on a weekday morning, this is where you want to be before the day gets complicated.
